APS discusses millage rate rollback

Atlanta Public Schools heard community questions and concerns about the APS millage rates Monday night.

APS officials said the millage rate will go down by $1 million. The decrease is to help alleviate pressure taxpayers are feeling.

They said there can't be a complete rollback because of mandatory expenses the school district faces.

But they said homeowners will still see savings since there will be an increase in the homestead exemption next year.

Officials said they're looking to find a balance between meeting students' needs and alleviating pressure on homeowners.
