The Atlanta School District has voted to roll back the millage rate.

However, this rollback will increase taxes for homeowners in Atlanta.

That's because of the increased values of homes in the Fulton County Tax Digest.

But in order to help taxpayers, the school board has worked to have a referendum put on the November ballot that would increase the Homestead Exemption.

The board chairman said that increase would provide taxpayers with a $410 a year savings.

The district said the rollback is the best way to balance meeting students' needs and alleviating pressure on homeowners.
