APD Cop Accused of Stealing from Another Cop

ATLANTA - Reassignments inside a police department are common. But one took place due to a very uncommon reason. It is an allegation of theft of hundreds of dollars that came up missing from an officer's wallet.

The victim believes a relief officer rifled through his wallet at shift change. It is said to have taken place inside a patrol car, which is a shared vehicle as one shift replaces another.

When the officer who was leaving for the day went back to see if his billfold was still in the car, the answer he got was no, according to police sources familiar with the situation.

A few minutes later, the wallet was located strewn on the pavement at the zone 3 precinct, minus the cash.

Two APD sources told FOX 5, managers reviewed incriminating in-car video and called in Fulton County District Attorney Paul Howard to look into the matter. 

In addition, the department is conducting an administrative investigation.

The allegation has rocked the department. Inside that wallet was not just the officer's cash, but money belonging to other officers who had worked extra jobs.
