It happened around 3:43 p.m. on Thursday.
What we know:
According to the Atlanta Police Department, officers found a 57-year-old woman with a gunshot wound along Simmons Street NW, just north of North Avenue NW.
The woman was alert, conscious, and breathing when medics took her to an area hospital.
Multiple people were detained as part of the investigation.
What we don't know:
It was not immediately clear if the shooter was one of those detained.
The name of the woman has not been released.
The case remains under investigation by the APD Aggravated Assault Unit.
