Airport officials tout progress since last year's outage

Management at Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport gave an update Friday on improvements made to their power systems.

This comes nearly a year after a fire and power outage paralyzed the airport during busy holiday travel.

Reps from Georgia Power joined airport officials for the news conference.

They say they learned important lessons from last year's incident.

Officials say they have a plan to bring generator backup power to 100 percent of the airport and that it's still in the design phase.

Work could take another 30 to 36 months to complete.

Officials said the temporary generators are in place for most airport operations right now.
