Firefighters responded to a report of a house fire in the 4900 block of Spur Court NW in Norcross.

Crews found a single-story home with heavy fire showing from the garage.  Firefighters deployed multiple hose lines to attack the fire and conduct a primary search. The fire had extended to the kitchen and other parts of the home. The home suffered extensive fire, smoke and water damage.

Occupants were home at the time of the fire and all escaped unharmed.  According to one of the residents, he smelled smoke, opened the door to the garage and saw the fire. The Red Cross is assisting the occupants (two adults and two children). No injuries are reported. Currently the cause is undermined and under investigation.

Even though the occupants were awake at the time of the fire and smelled smoke, Gwinnett County Fire and Emergency Services reminds everyone to have working smoke alarms in all parts of the home including garages and basements.
