Acworth man charged in murders of mother, stepdad
COBB COUNTY, Ga. - A 35-year-old man is behind bars charged with the murders of his mother and stepfather.
Cobb County investigators said just before 7 p.m. Thursday, shots were fired at the home on Camden Lakes Drive.
Concerned neighbors called 911.
"I was up in my bedroom, and I heard two shots and a woman screaming, and I ran downstairs," said Courtney Wooley, who lives in the Camden Pointe neighborhood.
Investigators said when they arrived on scene they found Dustin Dixon in the front yard and took him into custody.
Detectives found the bodies of 58-year old Michael Bradley DeLoach and 60-year old Ellen DeLoach.
Some neighbors were having their Thanksgiving dinner when the shots were fired.
One neighbor said he saw Ellen DeLoach running down his street who feared for her life after the shots were fired.
Dixon is being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center . He is charged with felony murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
