Atlanta Police have arrested a man accused of shooting a mother during an argument over washer and dryer use at their apartment.

Officers told FOX 5 they arrested Gequwon Dumas early Tuesday afternoon for the incident that happened earlier this month.

Investigators said Dumas got into an argument with his roommate Lamar Haywood at the Cascade Glen Apartments on Campbellton Road. During the dispute over cords to a washer and dryer, police said Dumas fired a shot that hit Haywood's girlfriend Brianna Heard in the leg.

Heard told FOX 5 News the bullet nearly hit her newborn daughter who was asleep in a crib. Heard is now wheelchair-bound for at least six months due to the injury.

"This is tough. There are still some tiny bullet pieces in there," Heard said about her leg.
