5 residents displaced by DeKalb County house fire

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Five people were left homeless after a fire tears through their DeKalb County home.

Crews were called to the house on Appleton Court early Monday afternoon and shut down Wesley Chapel Road so they could fight the blaze.

Firefighters worked quickly to put out the fire.

Officials have determined the flames started in the kitchen.

Medics transported the homeowner to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
