One adult and three children were rushed to the hospital after a house fire late Wednesday night.

It happened shortly before 10:00 p.m. in the 1000 block of Valley View Road Southeast. An Atlanta Fire Department spokesperson told FOX 5 News they arrived to find a woman and a 9-year-old girl outside the home. They told firefighters that three more children were inside the house.

Fire officials said they went into the home and were able to find all three children, who range in ages 5- to 12-years-old. One child was found in the hallway and the other two were inside a bedroom. One of the children was experiencing problems breathing, but they were able to stabilize them at the scene.

The adult and the three children rescued from the home were all transported to an area hospital. They were suffering from smoke inhalation and minor burns according to officials. Their conditions were not released Wednesday night.

Fire officials said the fire started in the kitchen near the front of the home and quickly spread back of the structure. They were able to quickly knock down the fire, but not before 75 percent of the house received damage.

The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The names of those rescued were not released.
