Snow Mountain returns with 'Galactic' new addition
STONE MOUNTAIN, Ga. - There’s only one place in North Georgia that can guarantee snow this time of year – and right now, Stone Mountain Park is providing not only a fresh coat of the white stuff but also some slick tubes with which to zoom over it!
Snow Mountain returns to Stone Mountain Park through Feb. 25, 2018, creating a pristine playground of actual snow for park guests to enjoy.
Snow is created by pumping water from the large lake onsite and cooling it down until it becomes snow, which is then blown out onto the park’s Memorial Lawn and packed into place.
Snow Mountain includes several main attractions including Avalanche Alley, a 400-foot hill built for family-sized tubes of up to 8 people, and Tube Runners, which includes several racing lanes for single and double tubes. There is also a Snow Zone play area perfect for making snowmen, snow angels, and having a snowball fight, and an area designed for children ages three and under.
New this season is Galactic Snow Tubing, which begins nightly at 5:30 p.m. and adds LED lights, music, and laser beams to the Snow Mountain tubing experience.
Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken is a Snow Mountain veteran, never missing a chance to challenge competitors to a race down the hill. He spent the morning at Stone Mountain Park, checking out this year’s snowpack!
