Mercedes-Benz Stadium gets 'dirty' for Monster Jam

Mercedes-Benz Stadium is looking a little “dirty” right now – and it has nothing to do with the “Dirty Birds” which call the Atlanta stadium home.

On Wednesday, crews began covering the stadium floor with thousands of tons of Georgia red clay, preparing it for the return of Monster Jam this weekend. The famed monster truck series rolls in on Saturday and Sunday, bringing some of the sport’s most iconic trucks, including Grave Digger (driven by Charlie Pauken), Monster Energy (driven by Todd LeDuc), and El Toro Loco (driven by Becky McDonough).

Gates open at 5 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, with show time at 7 p.m.  Gates open at 1 p.m. on Sunday the 24th, and showtime is at 3 p.m.  The stadium will host “Pit Parties” both days before the gates officially open, giving fans who purchase passes a chance to meet drivers and see the trucks up close.  Early Access Passes are also available for purchase, giving fans an extra hour on Saturday to visit with the drivers and trucks. Regular admission tickets for Monster Jam start at just $20.

Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken never turns down a chance to play in the dirt – especially when enormous trucks are involved!  So he spent the morning at Mercedes-Benz Stadium, as drivers prepared for the weekend’s events.
