Free Festival “Enlightens” Downtown Atlanta:   It’s a weeklong celebration of art and the people who create it, and for eight full days this month, expect Downtown Atlanta to become an even more vibrant and colorful place.

ELEVATE: Enlighten is a free public art festival which runs at various location in the city from Saturday, October 14 to Saturday, October 21.  The festival, which is presented by the Mayor’s Office of Cultural Affairs, seeks to give artists a place to show off their work, along with engaging others in discussions about art.  Over the course of the week, seven artists will create new murals downtown, a series of workshops and panels will be hosted by professional artists in the Watershed Auditorium, and the TGIF Performance Showcase at Woodruff Park on Friday night will feature music, dance, and spoken word performances.  A full list of events can be found here.

Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken spent the morning in Downtown Atlanta getting a preview of this exciting lineup of events, and also learning a few new moves from members of the Rockwell Dance Academy.
