Speedway becomes runway for first Atlanta Air Show:   You’re used to seeing really fast cars at Atlanta Motor Speedway in Hampton.  But this weekend, those looking for some high-speed action will need to air their eyes high in the sky.

Hampton’s Atlanta Motor Speedway is hosting the first-ever Atlanta Air Show this weekend, October 14 and 15, the first time the speedway has ever hosted an air show.  AMS is located just across the road from Henry County Airport, which will serve as the “home base” for the flying aircraft, while others will be towed into the speedway parking lot for display.  Several branches of the military will be represented at the Atlanta Air Show, including performances by the U.S. Air Force F-16 Viper Demonstration Team and a demon of the “Rhino” -- a Navy F/A-18F Super Hornet.  Also scheduled to appear is Kent Pietsch, and aerobatic pilot whose feats include attempting to land on an RV rooftop!  Grandstand seating for each day costs $18 for adults and $9 for kids ages six to 12, and gates open at 10 a.m.

Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken spent the morning at Atlanta Motor Speedway getting a first-look at some of the amazing aircraft that will be flying high and thrilling fans this weekend.

Burgers With Buck Griffin Dog House:  As you know, most of the restaurants that we have featured on #BurgersWIthBuck, have come directly from you guys.  Each week, we ask you to share your favorite ‘burger joint’ as we try to go far and wide to share the best and most unique burger experiences in Metro-Atlanta, and beyond.  This week, we went beyond.

The Griffin Dog House has been suggested via social media and email, as often as any restaurant that we have yet to feature.  What jumped off the page, was the fact that a restaurant with dog in the name, and a giant hot dog adorning the front door was being recommended for its burger. I mean take a look at the front of the restaurant.  It looks to me like Griffin’s version Marietta’s #BigChicken.  Let the record state, #BWB suggested equality.  We suggested a giant burger on the building in the future, or perhaps on a second location (if that ever happens…hint, hint).

Anyway, it was tough to choose which burger to feature because let’s face it, the #PimentoCheeseBaconBurger, the #ReubenBurger, the #JalapenoCheddarBurger, and the #GhostPepperCheeseBurger (to name a few) all sound delicious.  However, we opted for the #PimentoCheeseChiliBurger, but let’s face it, could we really have gone wrong?

Their mantra is…Fresh, Hot, and Affordable. Everything is made to order, and while this may take a minute or two longer, it’s definitely worth the wait. The burger was a double, made of beef that is locally ground every day. The Pimento Cheese is homemade using an old family recipe, and the chili is homemade as well, with a recipe that is 70 + years old. Mine was topped with lettuce, tomato, and mustard, and served with onion rings.

So that explains the fresh and the hot, now to the affordable. The majority of the burgers on the menu are $4.99 or less.  Yes, you read that right.

I’m told the dogs are delicious and that the Philly Cheesesteak is wonderful.  As I see it, that’s just two more reasons to visit Griffin again in the near future.
