ATLANTA - Fine Arts Center Prepares Students for Music Industry: When Charles Howard Candler built his grand Atlanta estate Callanwolde back in 1920, he could never have dreamed that nearly a century later, it would house some of the most sophisticated technology used in the music industry.
Today, Callanwolde is a fine arts center, and is home to the Rick Baker School of Music and Music Recording. The school offers a long list of music and recording classes, ranging from Introduction to Music Technology to private music classes to music recording camps for teens. Students interested in entering music production can earn the Phil Tan Certificate of Recording, named for 3-time Grammy Award winning Phil Tan, who has mixed hit singles for artists including Mariah Carey, Rihanna, Usher, and Ne-Yo. Tan currently serves as Director of Music Recording, and continues mixing projects for major music artists along with teaching at Callanwolde.
Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken stopped by Callanwolde Fine Arts Center to learn more about the music program, and the opportunities available to young men and women dreaming of a career in the music business.
