ATLANTA - Holidays Take Center Stage at Horizon Theatre: It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas at Atlanta's Horizon Theatre, with a pair of productions celebrating the season with laughter and music.
Madeline's Christmas is an hour-long musical based on the book by Ludwig Bemelmans, and will entertain families through December 31. The show tells the story of Madeline and her friends, who worry that the flu will ruin their Christmas but instead get an adventure far beyond anything they could have imagined. This is the ninth year Horizon Theatre has presented Madeline's Christmas, in partnership with The Atlanta Children's Theatre Company.
Meanwhile, adults can enjoy the outrageous The Santaland Diaries, also onstage through December 31. Based on the writings of bestselling author David Sedaris, the play centers on an out-of-work writer who takes a holiday job as an elf named Crumpet at Macy's Department Store. The Santaland Diaries is being performed for the 18th year by Harold M. Leaver.
Good Day Atlanta's Paul Milliken spent the morning at Horizon Theatre, getting a backstage look at both holiday shows.
