Deep stretches meet deep water with SUP YOGA

It’s a workout that takes the balance, breathing, and precise posing of yoga and puts them on water.  Will you get wet? Yes. But will you get a great workout?  Local teachers say, “definitely.”

SUP YOGA classes involve students doing yoga on stand up paddle boards (SUP), and they’re offered locally by outdoor gear and clothing business High Country Outfitters.  SUP YOGA classes are taught by Caroline Sloan, who is ACE Paddleyoga certified by Key West Paddleboard Yoga, and each session begins with an instruction on paddling before moving on to breathing and basic positions. Sloan says doing yoga on the water helps improve balance and strengthens the core and leg muscles, along with getting students to enjoy being out in nature.  Classes are held twice each Sunday, at 8:30 a.m. and 10:30 a.m. at Morgan Falls Overlook Park, and cost $35 each (board, paddle, and lifejacket are provided).
