Burgers with Buck: Bistro off Broad

There is an awesome trend in north Georgia of historic town squares being revitalized and renovated to perhaps even better than their original glory days, and one of the latest is downtown Winder. With relatively new restaurants like the trendy Bistro Off Broad housed in a completely restored 1890’s era building, and a plan for more new restaurants, watering holes, and retail shops in the not too distant future, Winder is becoming a destination.

This week, #BurgersWithBuck paid a visit to Bistro Off Broad to try their acclaimed Bistro Burger. Executive Chef Alex Friedman takes a lot of pride in making every effort to support local farmers and other providers by opting for locally sourced ingredients whenever possible.

Friedman seems to subscribe to the less is more theory when it comes to the signature burger, in an effort to enhance the taste of the eight-ounce Certified Angus beef pattie. The burger is topped with caramelized onions and a house-made Boursin, which is a soft creamy cheese flavored with garlic and fine herbs. Add lettuce and tomato and put it all on a Luna Baking Company (out of Athens) bun, and you get the Bistro Burger.

Not only is this town square revitalization trend great for local residents in these areas, but it’s wonderful for #BWB because it seems the delicious burger options in north Georgia just continue to increase. So many burgers, so little time. We are now at #152 . . . and counting!
