Blockbuster 'Hamilton' tour features Georgia connections

It’s the most anticipated entertainment event of the year – Hamilton has finally made its way to Atlanta, and the blockbuster musical features some familiar faces during its three-week stay at the Fox Theatre.

The Tony Award-winning sensation Hamilton opened at the Fox Theatre on May 22 and runs through June 10, and became the hottest ticket in town from the moment it was announced for the current Broadway in Atlanta season. In case there’s some way you’ve missed out on the buzz (is that possible?), Hamilton was written by Lin-Manuel Miranda and opened on Broadway in 2015, quickly becoming the most talked about musical in years and eventually sweeping the Tony Awards, taking home 11 awards out of a record-setting 16 nominations.

Hamilton, which tells the story of founding father Alexander Hamilton, also won the 2016 Pulitzer Prize for Drama.

The Hamilton cast here in Atlanta actually includes some Georgia connections, including Chris De’Sean Lee (who plays Marquis de Lafayette/Thomas Jefferson) and Jennifer Geller (Ensemble).  So Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken spent the morning at the Fox Theatre, chatting with these two cast members about being part of the worldwide phenomenon that is Hamilton.
