Actor William Levy returns to Atlanta for 'Star' turn

He’s the guy stirring up all kinds of trouble on the FOX hit “Star” – but fans of William Levy just can’t get enough!

The actor joined the cast of the Lee Daniels-created drama this season as “Mateo,” who takes over the show’s former Midtown Sound and goes up against Queen Latifah’s Carlotta in the process.  Describing his character to Good Day Atlanta’s Paul Milliken, Levy says, “This guy is an immigrant, comes from an immigrant family, wants to achieve the American dream.  He went to university, he went through a lot, he came from nothing…so he's a guy who wants to get to wherever he wants to get, and nothing's gonna stop him."

This isn’t Levy’s first time working in Atlanta; the actor has previously shot projects here including the 2014 films Tyler Perry’s The Single Moms Club and Addicted.  It was the latter film, in fact, that helped lead to his role on “Star” – Addicted was directed by Bille Woodruff, through whom Levy met Lee Daniels.
