Expect a rainy Thursday and Friday

Another storm is here promising to bring more rain along with the chance for a few snow showers in the mountains as the storm comes to an end.

An area of low pressure moving along the Gulf coast is bringing rain into north Georgia. The rain will continue through the day and night on Thursday and then start to taper to showers on Friday. As cold air spreads in on the back side of the system there could a few snow showers, or a wintry mix across the mountains. Since the storm will be moving out at that time, moisture will be limited so any snow will be light. Rain totals could be significant with most of north Georgia getting around an inch of rain. Some areas to the east could see up to two inches of rain.

Once this system moves out by late Friday look for sunny skies to return by Saturday, and stay with us through Christmas Day. The next chance of rain will come near the end of the week between Christmas and New Years. Right now it looks like the rain could start that Thursday, but the timing of that will no doubt change since it is so far away.
