Damage across Clayton County following Tornado Warning
CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. (FOX 5 Atlanta) - The FOX 5 Storm Team has spotted damage in Forest Park, Riverdale, and Lake City following a Tornado Warning Tuesday afternoon.
The warning was issued around 1:35 p.m. as a storm line of thunderstorms moved through the area. It was not immediately clear if the damage was caused by a tornado or straight-line winds.
The storm was packing about 40 mph winds with gust higher than 70 mph.
The FOX 5 Storm Chaser and spotted damage in the Laurel Park Apartments along Georgia Highway 85 on the north side of Riverdale where the entrance sign was knocked off its foundation and several trees were downed.
In Lake City, a few trees were downed. One giant tree was spotted on top of a home.
It was a similar story in Forest Park where power crews were out working to restore power after trees downed power lines. One homeowner was seen cutting up a tree which fell on his roof.
