While recruiting and retaining officials is a struggle in a normal year, the pandemic has made it even more difficult. Many Atlanta metro area football associations estimate they are down at least a dozen officials heading into the 2020 season, and their leaders expect more to opt out as Week 1 approaches on Sept. 4.
