Portia: Juneteenth Celebration
Some don't understand the history of Juneteenth and many others don't recognize why it's celebrated. The holiday is celebrated on June 19th to mark the emancipation of slaves in the United States. Dr. Maurice Hobson, Georgia State University professor, says it gives us a full circle of understanding history to celebrate Juneteenth. Tashiya Umoja M?kanga, founder of the Kilombo Academic & Cultural Institute, is clear that all children can learn if given what they need in a holistic way.
