Portia: Celebrate Our Fathers
There are negative stereotypes and misnomers behind black fathers being in the lives of their children. Special contributor, Dr. Natosha Reid Rice, was raised by her father. At age of 7, her mother no longer wanted to be a mother. Her father was intentional while raising her, being all-in as her dad. Her dad surrounded her with women who could mother her and help fill in the gaps. She says the village is needed. Dr. Gerry White, therapist, social worker and Clark-Atlanta University professor, says most fathers want to be better than their father. Dr. White says be wise as to who you expose your children to. Two of Dr. White's daughters talk about the role he plays in their lives. The surprises will warm your heart!
