Heavy rainfall has triggered flash flood warnings across several north Georgia counties, with some areas receiving over 2 to 2.5 inches of rain in just an hour. While some areas face heavy downpours, regions west of I-75 are enjoying plenty of sunshine. Storm activity will clear out overnight, leaving a dry Saturday morning.

Heavy rainfall has triggered flash flood warnings across several north Georgia counties, with some areas receiving over 2 to 2.5 inches of rain in just an hour. Warm, muggy conditions remain across the area, with high humidity and dew points holding in the 70s. A weak disturbance is driving scattered showers and thunderstorms across western parts of the state.

It is humid and warm in metro Atlanta and North Georgia. There's some clouds, but not much rain at the moment. That may change later this afternoon. The same pattern will continue over the weekend. 

Another foggy start for some parts of metro Atlanta and North Georgia and afternoon rain is still possible. Today's high temp expected to be 88 degrees.

Scattered afternoon and evening thunderstorms are moving across parts of North Georgia. A strong storm tracking out of Paulding County toward Cartersville brings brief heavy rain, frequent lightning, and gusty winds.

Expect another typical August afternoon across metro Atlanta and North Georgia. While there are a few clouds around, it's still warm and very humid, and that combination will help spark scattered showers and thunderstorms through the afternoon and early evening. Not everyone will see rain, but any storm that develops could produce heavy downpours, leading to isolated flooding in a few spots. High temperatures will top out in the upper 80s to around 90 degrees before the storms gradually fade tonight, with a warm and muggy start again tomorrow morning.

Dense fog in the mornings and afternoon downpours will impact North Georgia over the next few days. A severe thunderstorm warning was issued for Newton County after heavy lightning and rain moved across parts of north Georgia.

Heavy rain and lightning moved across metro Atlanta, bringing temperature drops and flash flooding risks to surrounding counties.

More of the same on Wednesday. Temps were in the low to high 80s around the area as of midday. Rain possible for some this afternoon. 

Wednesday will look and feel much like Tuesday. Hot and humid and chances of storms this afternoon. Not expected to be widespread in metro Atlanta. 

A lingering low pressure system will trigger heavy downpours and potential street flooding across the region, according to meteorologists.
