Tate Ratledge commits to be UGA's newest offensive lineman

The Darlington School’s 4-Star offensive tackle Tate Ratledge has decided that he will be the newest Bulldog.

The 5th overall OT prospect in the nation made his decision live on FOX 5’s Good Day Atlanta on  Monday.

Ratledge had been deciding between the University of Georgia and Tennessee and told FOX 5 last week that he really warmed to UGA after coming to Athens for the G-Day spring Scrimmage.

“The relationship with Coach Pittman stands out a lot because he’s been recruiting me for about four years now, it seems like. And I guess I just keep building relationships with him and Coach Smart and all the other coaches there.

And although Ratledge’s family has deep-rooted ties to the Volunteers, Pittman gave Georgia the edge with the lineman.

“Building this relationship with Coach (Sam) Pittman, talking to him, he is not really a let’s talk all about football guy, he is more of a personable guy, that wants to get to know you, not just about football,” he said.

Last year, Georgia scored a potential UT commit in Cade Mays when the 5-star lineman de-committed from Tennessee and chose to attend school in Athens instead.
