Hawks purchase NBA D-League Team
ATLANTA - The Atlanta Hawks announced Thursday they have purchased a NBA Developmental League Team which will play in College park.
The city of College Park will build a 3,500 seat arena just for the new franchise.
Hawks officials said the team will debut in the 2019-2020 season.
"I think people that have heard, whether it be myself or whoever, talk about how important player development is to the Hawks and how it is one of the core tenants. And I think we've all seen the development of not just the young players but the veteran players and how much better they've gotten. This D-League team is just going to enhance our ability to develop players, to develop future Hawks," said Hawks Head Coach Mike Budenholzer.
Coach Budenholzer and his staff is renowned for developing players and this team will play an important role in building a consistent championship team.
