Alabama's Steve Sarkisian to become Falcons' offensive coordinator

ATLANTA - University of Alabama’s Steve Sarkisian is set to become the Atlanta Falcons’ new offensive coordinator. Dan Quinn and Thomas Dimitroff held a press conference Tuesday afternoon to discuss the new hire.

“Aggressive play caller. I know what he stands for as a coach,” said Quinn.

The Falcons made the announcement on Twitter Tuesday afternoon.

“The Falcons have agreed with Steve Sarkisian to become Atlanta’s offensive coordinator.”

Sarkisian, a former USC and Washington head coach, will replace Kyle Shanahan, who was named as head coach for the San Francisco 49ers on Monday. 

The move to Atlanta comes just months after Sarkisian was given the reins of the Tide offense, which was a day after the Peach Bowl when coach Nick Saban ushered Lane Kiffin on to his new job at Florida Atlantic. The Crimson Tide lost the title game 35-31. He will take over a Falcons offense that scored the 7th most points ever in a NFL season.
