Woman Rescued in DeKalb County SWAT Standoff

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - A DeKalb County SWAT standoff has ended peacefully after a woman was held hostage by her boyfriend on Wednesday.

At 6:30 a.m., a family member of the victim received a text message saying the woman's boyfriend wouldn't let her leave a he had a knife. They were at a townhome on Willowick Drive. 

SWAT members were able to establish communication with the victim without the boyfriend knowing. Responding officers told her to go upstairs to a second floor window where they were waiting for her with a ladder. The victim safely got down and a short time later the boyfriend surrendered.

The standoff went on for several hours and caused roads to be blocked off and nearby schools to be placed on lockdown. 

Investigators said the boyfriend is facing false imprisonment charges.
