A woman decided to pay it forward and do something kind for a Forsyth County sheriff's deputy.

According to the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office, the deputy was eating lunch off-duty when a woman realized he was a United States Marine. The woman paid for the deputy's meal and left a note for him, according to a Facebook post.

"Thank you for your service--from a Vietnam baby!" the note read.

The Facebook post included a picture of the receipt, which totaled $13.45. They were eating at an IHOP restaurant.

"Our deputy didn't get the chance to thank her, but he was very grateful for the support!" the Facebook post read.
