Woman killed in three-vehicle crash on Dahlonega Highway

One woman has been killed after an accident on northbound Dahlonega Highway sent a moving truck into the highway's southbound lanes.

Emily Osborne, a 42-year-old resident of Cumming, Georgia, was pronounced dead at the scene, said Phil Alexander, traffic specialist of the Forsyth County Sheriff's Office.

Police said the accident happened just after noon on Nov. 27 at the intersection of Dahlonega Highway and Punch Hammond Road.

According to officials, the accident began when a 2000 Honda Odyssey on northbound Dahlonega Highway tried to turn left. It was then hit on it's left rear by a 2008 Freightliner moving truck.

The Freightliner then went into the southbound lane of the highway, where it hit the driver's side of Osborne's Toyota Camry.

A passenger of the Freightliner, 22-year-old Troy Lester, was transported to an area hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries.

Authorities are still investigating the crash.
