Woman injured in explosion at Georgia Gwinnett College
GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. - One person was injured in an explosion at Georgia Gwinnett College Monday morning.
Fire officials said the blast was in the restroom near the food court on campus.
"Building A is closed for the day," GGC said on Twitter. "Until further notice, Building A and the Building A parking lots are off limits."
According to fire investigators, a woman, who worked for a food service contractor, was seriously injured and taken to Grady Memorial Hospital, but authorities expect her to survive.
Investigators will now work to determine the cause of the explosion, but in a statement released by the college Monday afternoon, officials said they do not believe it to be an intentional act.
The college said they will adjust schedules to help accommodate any course disruptions.
