Witness won't testify in trial of accused gang members

ALBANY, Ga. (AP) - A witness is balking at testifying at the southwest Georgia trial of two men accused in a deadly drive-by-shooting.

A Dougherty County judge sent jurors home early Monday after the eyewitness refused to testify. WALB-TV (http://bit.ly/2raHSJG) reports the witness could still take the stand Tuesday in Dougherty Superior Court.

Desmond Warren and Harrell Lorenzo Hicks are charged with crimes including murder, aggravated assault and street gang terrorism.

Prosecutors say that in 2013, gang members fired as many as 50 shots into the homes of rival gang members, killing Desmond Williams and William Davis. Two other people also face criminal charges.

The trial began last week. If convicted, Warren and Hicks could face up to life in prison.
