After months of separation and thousands of miles traveled, a veteran has reunited with the dog he befriended in Afghanistan.

Apollo the pup showed up at a campground where Sean Marsicane was working with Afghan soldiers.

The pup was dangerously thin, so Sean started feeding him every day.

Sean returned home to the U.S. in December, but he couldn't stop thinking of his four-legged pal. So he teamed up with Puppy Rescue Mission to bring Apollo to Arizona.

"He had a flight from Afghanistan all the way to Turkey, then from Turkey from D.C., and then from D.C. to here. So he had a long, long travel period. It's amazing to have him back home," Marsicane said.

Sean said Apollo was a little shy when he arrived, but he quickly made himself right at home.
