Teenager murder suspect caught shoplifting at metro Atlanta Walmart, police say

VALDOSTA, Ga. - A teen wanted in connection with a murder in Valdosta is in custody after officials say he was caught trying to shoplift from a Riverdale Walmart.
Damirie Washington now faces charges of murder, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony. Additional charges may be added later.
The backstory:
At around 3 a.m. on Dec. 30, Valdosta police responded to the 700 block of Stillwater Drive after receiving multiple 911 calls about gunshots.
One caller told 911 operators that they saw someone lying on the ground near a vehicle.
When officers got to the scene, they found the body of a 41-year-old man who had "obvious signs of trauma."
Investigators identified Washington as a suspect in the shooting and issued warrants for his arrest.
What we know:
Weeks later, a Riverdale police officer was conducting a check at a local Walmart when he spotted Washington "acting suspiciously and attempting to conceal merchandise," officials said.
After making contact with the teen, the officer learned that he was wanted out of Valdosta.
Washington is now in custody at the Clayton County Jail.
