Georgia Bureau of Investigation detectives said a vehicle was driving in the southbound lanes on Interstate 75 when it crashed into the guardrail and went into the northbound lanes near Highway 36. Responding deputies uncovered explosive materials inside the vehicle.

SKYFOX 5 flew over the scene shortly after 10 a.m. as investigators blocked off all northbound lanes of traffic to investigate. The investigation caused major delays, but all lanes of I-75 have since reopened and traffic is moving again.

Investigators said two suspects were inside the vehicle when it crashed. According to the GBI, the driver fell asleep at the wheel. They were treated for minor injuries and taken into police custody.

Detectives found several white buckets inside the vehicle. The items in the vehicle were consistent with components for making methamphetamine. Those contents are now in GBI custody.
