Tree falls, damages DeKalb County home

DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - A large tree fell on a house in DeKalb County early Thursday morning, doing significant damage to the home. No one was injured.

The tree fell onto the roof of the home on Maplewood Drive just after 6 a.m. Heavy rain moved through the metro Atlanta area overnight, but the family that lives at the home says the rain had stopped and winds were light at the time the tree came down.

Branches from that tree came through the ceiling of a bedroom where a young boy was sleeping. Christopher Cook says his uncle came into the room to help him get out and take him to his mother who was elsewhere inside the home. "I was really scared, to the point I cried," Cook said after the tree fell.
