Trail mix recalled over undeclared allergen

Ferris Coffee & Nut Co has issued a recall for one of their Frederik’s by Meijer Vanilla Bourbon Trail Mix products that was sold in six U.S. states.

What we know:

The Food & Drug Administration issued the recall notice after discovering the product may contain two major allergens, wheat and soy. Neither ingredient was labeled on the packaging, instead listing bourbon-flavored caramels.

According to the recall, the 9-ounce bags were sold at Meijer stores across Michigan, Indiana, Ohio, Illinois, Wisconsin and Kentucky. 

The impacted packages are marked with lot number 6069-1 and have an expiration date of December 10, 2026. 

Why you should care:

Both wheat and soy can trigger severe or life-threatening reactions in consumers who have a sensitivity to those allergens.

Ferris Coffee & Nut Co. has halted production of the product. People who have purchased the product are urged to throw them away or return them for a full refund.
