Thousands raised at Komen's 'Disco Ball' gala
ATLANTA (FOX 5 Atlanta) - Georgians gathered together to get their groove on for a good cause.
Disco attire and generous hearts were all on display at the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation's signature fundraising party.
Fun and philanthropy came together with a throwback theme for a very current diagnosis.
We're raising money for metistatic stage 4 breast cancer this year," Susan G. Komen Great Atlanta's Katie Diamond Stone said.
The sixth annual Bubbles and Bling "Disco Ball" brought hundreds of attendees and raised hundreds of thousands of dollars.
"We bring the city together to have fun but also raise money for breast cancer research," Stone said.
The ballroom at the Carlos Center was the site for this unique cocktail party – which Komen calls its "un-gala."
Guests bid on a number of items and experiences in the live and silent auctions.
But it was the emotional testimonials of survivors that those at the party really left with.
