Thieves steal Atlanta police officer's rifle, handgun and badge
ATLANTA - Atlanta police and Homeland Security investigators are searching for two men who stole police equipment.
Police said an off-duty officer's rifle, handgun and badge were taken from a government vehicle that was parked behind R. Thomas Grill on Peachtree Street. The officer's car was one of four targeted.
Shattered glass littered the parking lot, according to investigators.
A witness walking into the restaurant told police he saw two men running away as he entered to grab a takeout order.
There is a surveillance camera that overlooks the parking lot. Detectives hope it brings a better description of the thieves.
