Teenager shot and robbed in Lawrenceville
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. - Police are searching for the robbers responsible for ambushing a teen at a Lawrenceville apartment complex, and shooting him multiple times.
Police said the ordeal happened Wednesday afternoon, as the teenager was hanging out with a group of people behind the Greens at Hillcrest apartments. Detectives said the teenager fled and got help from residents.
“I was trying to put the towel on his leg,” said Vanessa Kimble, a person who rushed to help the teen lying on the ground. “I kept talking to him... he said, ‘Ma’am, my stomach is hurting.’”
Police said the teen is lucky to be alive after the numerous gunshots, and is in stable condition at the hospital.
Authorities believe the teenager may know the suspects, and are following leads for possible arrests.
“One of the things we are looking at is the potential for gang involvement. We have had gang issues in this particular area,” said Captain Jeff Smith with Lawrenceville Police. “These types of crimes concern us.”
