Teen found dead after being shot in the back in west Atlanta

A teenager was found shot to death in west Atlanta Thursday morning, according to Atlanta Police. 

Police were called to the 2900 block of Delmar Lane around 10:15 a.m. Thursday. Responding officers found a male who had been shot in the back. 

The victim, believed to be about 17, was pronounced dead at the scene. 

Authorities are looking into whether the crime may be linked to a minor drug transaction. 

Family members of the 17-year-old say they are in shock especially since the teen was working towards getting his life together. 

The teen only made it to the 10th grade at Mays High School, but was working on earning his GED.

He had dreams of becoming a recording artist.

"He was the drummer of the church when went to church, he was raised in the church, he loved drums," the teen's Aunt Evat Glenn told FOX 5's Morse Diggs. 

Police do not have any suspects at this time.
