Suspect search after MARTA officer-involved shooting

ATLANTA - A search for a shooting suspect is underway in northwest Atlanta after an officer-involved shooting Saturday morning.

Just before 7:30 a.m. the Georgia Bureau of Investigation was called to investigate a shooting incident involving a MARTA police officer near the Ashby Street Station at 65 Joseph E. Lowery, Blvd.

A MARTA officer encountered a person matching the description of a suspect the Atlanta Police Department had been looking for regarding a possible robbery with shots fired.

The MARTA police officer reportedly approached the suspect who ran from the scene and fired shots at the officer.

The suspect individual remains at large.
