The Wayne County Sheriff's Office confirms to FOX 2 that one of the suspects in the murder of 3-year-old A'Naiya Montgomery died by suicide on Wednesday.

The Sheriff said it appears Paul Kendall took his own life as he was being held in the Wayne County Jail on murder charges. According to the sheriff's office, he died by suicide in the jail.

A'Naiya Montgomery was shot and killed when a gunman barged into a home on Riverview Street early morning on Easter Sunday. A'Naiya was sleeping next to her mother and was shot two times.

Later that week, police announced they had arrested two men, 20-year-old and 26-year-old, in connection to the death.
