Spalding County deputy injured in car accident

A Spalding County deputy is recovering from a dangerous car accident Sunday morning.

According to the Spalding County Sheriff's Office, Deputy John Taylor was involved in a single car accident Saturday afternoon while he was off duty.

Medics rushed Taylor to a Macon hospital, where officials say he is recovering.

Deputies say they are thankful to the citizens who helped Taylor out of his car and waited with him until help arrived.

Spalding County Sheriff spokesperson Dwayne Jones said that Taylor is "banged up pretty bad and will have a long road to recovery."

Taylor, a recent graduate from the police academy, is assigned to the Spalding County Uniform Patrol Division.

Officials are now asking Georgians to keep Taylor and his family in your prayers.
