Snellville thief snatches car with 2 kids inside, police say

The Brief

    • A vehicle left running was stolen from a CVS on Rockdale Circle. There were two children inside the car.
    • The car and children were later abandoned. A police dog tried to track the suspect but was unsuccessful.

SNELLVILLE, Ga. - Snellville residents may have noticed a large police presence by the CVS near Rockdale Circle Saturday night. Officials say a carjacker likely made a stunning discovery once realizing there were two children still in the car.

What we know:

Snellville police say the car was stolen from the CVS near Rockdale Circle Saturday night.

It was later discovered abandoned nearby. Luckily, the children were still inside and unharmed.

A K-9 unit was deployed to track the suspect, but was unsuccessful. Police believe the thief was able to escape in another vehicle.

What we don't know:

The identity of the suspect is unknown.

What you can do:

Anyone who was in that area between 11 p.m. and 2 a.m. has been asked by police to review any video footage that could have been taken.
