Slain officer honored in Facebook post

KENNESAW, Ga. - The Kennesaw Police Department honored an officer who was accidentally shot and killed during a firearms training session in a touching Facebook post Tuesday.

Officer Tara Drummond died on September 13, 2005, exactly 11 years ago, according to the post.

“Officer Tara Drummond was accidentally shot and killed while attending training at the North Central Georgia Law Enforcement Academy,” read the post. “She was shot during a firearms training session. Officer Drummond was sworn in as an officer with the Kennesaw Police Department only four months earlier.”
