Serial burlary suspect arrested after DeKalb SWAT situation
DEKALB COUNTY, Ga. - Police have arrested a man suspected in a string of burglaries in Conyers after a SWAT situation in a DeKalb County neighborhood. A second burglary suspect, identified as Jarvas McElroy, remains on the loose, according to Conyers Police.
David Olson was taken into custody Wednesday after an intense stand-off with police.
SWAT members geared up and walked toward a home in the 5300 block. That's where police told FOX 5 a man pointed a pistol at an officer trying to serve a warrant. The officer was from Conyers Police. He backed off, and requested assistance from DeKalb Police.
At least a dozen families woke to officers at their doors early Wednesday. They were told to leave their homes for their own safety.
Carrying children in pajamas, and some wrapped in blankets, residents of the Muirfield subdivision off Redan Road walked to the other side of yellow police tape on Muirfield Run in Stone Mountain.

Police said two women and another man came out of the home. Olson eventually surrendered to police without incident. He's now facing other charges, along with the original burglary charges in connection with the burglaries of two Best Buy locations, a Sound Pro store and Sigman Bottle Shop. Police say they believe Olson may also be connected to several other burglaries in the Metro Atlanta area.
Police have posted surveillance videos on YouTube of the burglaries at the Best Buy and Sigman Both Shop stores.
The scene at Muirfield Run has since cleared and neighbors are allowed back in their homes.
