Security improvements begin at Atlanta's airport

ATLANTA - Security officials at Atlanta’s Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport outlined plans to spend millions to bolster the fence protecting five runways.

At the top of the fence, workers are installing razor wire, 2 feet of it looped in circles.

FOX 5 News was first to report about the security enhancement which officials said was accelerated after two breaches earlier this year.

One intruder, who stripped naked, made national headlines because he was able to get all the way to a plane before police could remove him.

The physical changes are slated to be done by the end of the year.

Security Manager Jan Lennon said they will also add a technology component. She did not say whether the decision has been made about what that would be.
